About Us

                              MISSION , VISION AND HISTORY.

The Ghana youth club of Georgia is a non-profit charitable organization that was established on may 6, 2006 by a group of young Ghanaian volunteers who seek to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaian children.

It was incorporated with the state of Georgia on October 15th 2007 control number (07089247)The club attained a 501 (c)(3) status from the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS). refer to www.irs.gov on October 17th 2007 and that initiated our association into a recognized tax exempt organization.

The organization was purposely formed to provide health insurance from the government health insurance scheme, basic education, and  the needed lifes necessities to the physically and mentally challenged orphans in Ghana. According to the challenged athlete foundation and the world health bank, ten percent (10%) of Ghana ’s population, an estimated 2.3 million people in a country of 23 million has some type of physical or mental disability. Sadly, because of negative perceptions and stereotypes, children born with these disabilities are often killed off or are neglected by their own families due to suspicion of a curse. The lucky ones that survive are also abandoned by the very society that they rely upon, and rather left to beg for alms on the streets of Ghana for survival.

Our mission is to restore a sense of hope and dignity to these challenged population by helping to advance their socio-economic developments through good health, basic education and career training programs in collaboration with local charities in the communities that we undertake.

IT IS THE VISION OF GYC:

To be the best agent for hope ,dignity and respect for the physically and mentally challenged persons especially children in disadvantaged communities of Ghana and else where, by giving them the tools that will enable them to realize their dreams, aspirations and full potential.

OUR MISSION

1. To have a significant impact on the lives and livelihood of every challenged person that we are able to help.

2. To positively change the perception, misconception and stereotypical mind set of the African society towards the physically and mentally ill persons, and to inspire awareness through  general public education on the need for societal inclusiveness of the afflicted and the plight of these victims in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

3. To inspire, mentor, council and provide career training opportunities, educational and health support in order to directly impact the socio-economic lives of the physically and mentally disabled.

Our Business

Our goal is to work with other community capacity building charities in Ghana who focuses on the plights of the physically and mentally challenged, as well as homeless and misplaced children by building and organizing in partnership with the local communities, a rescue mission with emphasis on health, nutriion, education and career training programs that would help retore their self esteem and encourage the victims to maximize their full potential, and to lunch an aggresive campainge to educate the general public on the need and benefit of societal inclusiveness of those afflicted.
